In 2017, I joined the Women's March before moving back home to study policy and business. My wife, Jessica, and I now live with our two small boys and pup about a block away from the Home Alone house in Winnetka.I am an environmentalist and a public servant. Until this campaign, I chaired my village Environmental &amp; Forestry Commission, where we pushed Winnetka to embrace a comprehensive view of sustainability, resource our plans with a new hire, and take a deliberative approach to our energy policy. I serve on the Executive Committee of <a href="https://openlands.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Openlands</a>. I am a civic optimist, which means I believe in - and advocate for - fairer and more inclusive participation in our shared government. I've testified in favor of voting reforms in Springfield and support campaign finance reforms. Until this campaign launched, I served on the Board of Directors of <a href="https://www.reformforillinois.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Reform for Illinois</a>. I am a small business owner. My wife and I own and run Piglet in Bed, our family business. Jessica founded Piglet in 2017. I left management consulting to help her grow the business. We sell the best and most beautiful linen and cotton bedding money can buy, as well as homewares, sleepwear, and pajamas. I know first-hand the thrill and terror of starting something new and what it takes for a business to thrive.I earned my M.B.A. and M.P.P. from the University of Chicago and my B.A. from the George Washington University in Washington D.C.I got my start in politics leading central Virginia for the Obama reelection campaign (where I hosted Bruce Springsteen, who was a prince). When I returned from D.C., I joined the Executive Board of the <a href="https://www.northfielddems.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Northfield Township Democrats</a> and took a turn leading the nonpartisan Northbrook Caucus.. I now lead the <a href="https://newtrierdemocrats.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">New Trier Democrats</a>. In just a few short years. our grassroots volunteer political organization has tripled our membership and introduced new programs to engage, educate, and activate our neighbors and local elected officials. In 2024, I co-founded and led <a href="https://operationswingstate.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Operation Swing State</a>. We convened 80 different organizations across the Chicago area to mobilize ten thousand volunteers to knock a quarter million doors in Michigan and Wisconsin -- the largest out-of-state political effort in recent memory.

How Illinois Can Meet the Moment

Each week a new line is crossed by a federal government we barely recognize and no longer trust. Illinois must draw strength from within -- we are not helpless.It is time to explore the extent of Illinois' rights under the 10th Amendment, state capabilities (and partnerships) within fiscal constraints, and priorities (like education and healthcare) we must continue to support without federal funding. In short, Illinois must blunt illegal federal action, serve residents, and chart a course towards a fairer, greener, healthier state, without federal intimidation or interference.
